President's Vision — Gratitude

November is the month we typically consider gratitude as it's the month that Thanksgiving is celebrated in the United States.

I wish I was more cognizant of being grateful more often.  I am so grateful for my life and the people in it.  Many of you may not know this, but I was born 2 months early and they weren't sure I was going to make it.  I did!  I also almost died almost 20 years ago - I contracted meningitis and without my sisters' concerns and quick actions, I would have died, according to the ER doctor.  God has a plan for all of us.  What are you grateful for and will you step into His plan for your life?

Madam PresidentJulie Tilney-Varden

"Love Never Fails"

A generous person will prosper;whoever refreshes otherswill be refreshed.

~ Proverbs 11:15

There is a video and a workbook that will take you through everything you need to learn the shocking revelation of God's Forgiveness with HeartQuest as we take you through forgiving 70x7!The 70x7 course is designed to help individuals find freedom and peace by teaching them how to forgive others and themselves. Based on the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 18:21-22, the course explores the impact of hurt and unforgiveness on the heart and guides participants through the process of releasing themselves from the "prison" of unforgiveness. In essence, the 70x7 course offers a comprehensive approach to forgiveness, empowering individuals to find healing, freedom, and lasting peace by forgiving others and themselves.

- Here is a testimonial from one of our participants:  “I have been on a journey of healing for about 15 years now. After attending many workshops over the years I finally realized that I had a lot of unforgiveness left inside of my heart. After attending the course, I must say it was one of the most beneficial classes I have attended in a long time. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to continue their healing journey.” - Gary S.Email bobvarden@gmail.com for registration details

November Reflections"It's Okay To Be Afraid"

Fear is one of the most misunderstood emotions we carry. Too often, we confuse it with anxiety, worry, panic, or dread. Those are mood states, distortions, or echoes of fear, but they are not the living gift of fear itself. True fear is clear, sharp,

and purposeful—it is God’s way of whispering: pay attention, act now.

When fear rises, it is not here to torment us. It is here to focus us. Think of how your senses sharpen when you suddenly feel fear: your heart beats faster, your mind clears, and your body is ready to move. In that moment, you are alert, present, alive. Fear brings vigor and clarity, reminding you of what matters most and calling you into decisive action.

This is why Scripture tells us, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10). To fear God is not to cower in terror—it is to live with holy attentiveness, to stand awake in the presence of the One who is greater than us, and to let that awareness guide how we live. Fear roots us in reverence, clarity, and truth.

Modern life has taught us to pathologize fear, to lump it in with worry and anxiety until we barely recognize its true form. But fear is not our enemy. It is an inner compass. It’s the midnight nudge that tells you to check on your child, only to discover they need you. It’s the sudden pull to step outside, and then the tree falls where you had been sitting. Fear is not cruelty—it is protection. It is the way God’s Spirit can move through our instincts, urging us to respond before we even understand why.

Even angels, who begin their messages with “Be not afraid,” are not condemning fear itself. They are saying: Don’t let panic or terror keep you from receiving the good that is coming. But notice—fear still gets your attention. Fear opens your eyes. Fear clears the clutter so you can hear the message.

Fear, in its purest form, is a superpower. It is not about shrinking—it is about awakening. In Doctor Who, the Doctor tells a child, “Fear makes companions of us all. Fear can make you faster, cleverer, stronger.” The same is true in life. Fear is not here to paralyze you; it is here to mobilize you.

The practice of fear, then, is not to run from it, but to listen. Ask yourself: What action should be taken? Let fear focus your attention on the moment at hand. Prepare, move consciously, and allow its clarity to revitalize your spirit.

Fear is not punishment. Fear is presence. Fear is God’s gift, a way He keeps us awake, alive, and aligned with His protection. To live in holy fear is to live in reverence, alert to His whisper, ready to move in the direction of life.

With love,Rosemary Rieger

Prayers and Praises

Be rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, and continuing steadfastly in prayer

~ Romans 12:12

November Praises

From HeartQuest to God

🍂 God, thank You for November’s slower rhythm. As the world cools and quiets, teach us to quiet ourselves too. Thank You for the gift of breath, for warm blankets, for safe homes, and for people who care—even if they live far away. Thank You that goodness still exists in a world that can feel heavy. Help us see it.

🧡 Jesus, thank You for the courage to stay soft. There is so much noise, so much grief, so many headlines that make us worry about tomorrow. Yet here we are—still loving, still learning, still showing up. Remind us that every act of kindness, every shared meal, every brave conversation is proof that light is stronger than darkness.

🌾 We praise You for gratitude that doesn’t depend on perfect circumstances. For farmers gathering late-season harvests. For firefighters and aid workers helping strangers. For families opening their tables to one more plate. For neighbors donating coats, food, time, and hope. The world is still full of people choosing compassion. Let us be among them.

🕯 Holy Spirit, help us look inward with honesty and gentleness.Teach us to focus on the things we can change—our reactions, our tone, our forgiveness, our patience, our prayer. Guard us from getting lost in everything that is beyond us. Remind us that transformation begins in the quiet corners of our own hearts.

✨ Lord, let November be a month of sacred remembering.Remind us of how far we’ve come.Of the storms we survived.Of the miracles that didn’t feel like miracles until later.Give us eyes to see not just what is wrong—but what is still beautiful.

🕊 Christ, make us people of gratitude and peace. As families gather for Thanksgiving, as communities celebrate Veterans Day, as the world mourns and hopes and heals, let us be gentle with one another. Let our words be softer. Let our hearts be wider. Let our hands be open. And may we never forget that even in a broken world, You are still working, still loving, still redeeming.

Amen.

November Prayers

From HeartQuest to God

🕊 God of Quiet Mornings,

November invites us to slow down.Teach us to breathe again, to notice what is good,to sit in gratitude without rushing past it.When the world feels loud with conflict, fear, and uncertainty, turn our attention to the ordinary miracles—neighbors helping neighbors, communities rebuilding, strangers paying for a stranger’s groceries. There is still kindness. There is still hope.Help us see it.

🍂 Jesus, Keeper of the Lonely,

This month brings gatherings—family tables, reunions, memories. Some of us feel excitement. Some of us feel dread. Some of us grieve empty chairs and quiet roomswhere a loved one used to be.Be close to those who feel invisible, forgotten, or left out.Sit beside the ones who cry in secret.Whisper, “You are seen. You are wanted. You belong.”

🔥 Holy Spirit, Flame in Our Chest,

We are tired of pretending we’re fine. Some of us are exhausted from holding everyone else together. Some are ashamed of how much we’re struggling.Breathe courage into us—to ask for help, to speak truth,to rest without guilt,to honor our own soul.Make us kinder to ourselves, for You never asked us to earn love.

🌾 God of Harvest and Waiting,

Some of us see breakthroughs.Others only see dirt.Teach us that unseen roots are still growing, and delayed answers are not denied ones.Heal the belief that we are “behind.”Show us that Your timing does not embarrass us—it protects us.

🕊 Jesus, Gentle in Family Storms,

Thanksgiving tables hold both joy and history.Old wounds, old patterns, old words that still bruise.Give us discernment—when to speak, when to release, when to love from a distance.Let gratitude be honest, not forced.Let boundaries be peaceful, not harsh.Protect our hearts from guilt that demands silence.Protect our spirits from bitterness disguised as strength.

🌙 God of Those Afraid to Hope Again,

We confess our quiet fears:What if nothing changes? What if happiness doesn’t last? What if we are too broken to begin again?Hold our trembling hearts.Give us one small spark today—something light enough to carryand bright enough to remind usthat darkness does not get the final word.

🕯 Light That Never Stops Rebuilding,

When the world feels fractured, let us be repairers. When people are divided, let us be healers. When cruelty makes headlines, let us make compassion louder. Not by force, but by gentleness. Not by perfection, but by presence.Make us lights that stay lit—not flashy, not loud—just steady.

💛 Beloved Presence,

Anchor us this month.Teach us gratitude that is grounded in truth, not obligation.Teach us joy that coexists with healing, not denial.Teach us to change what we can—our reactions, our boundaries, our self-talk, our compassion—and trust You with what we cannot.

You are not far.Even here.Even now.

Amen.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” —Psalm 136:1

What HeartQuest Recommends this MonthThe Chosen AdventuresA New Animated Series Recommended by Julie Tilney-Varden

If you loved The Chosen, there’s something new to enjoy and share—especially with children and families. The Chosen Adventures is a brand

-new animated series that reimagines the ministry of Jesus through the curious eyes of a 9-year-old girl named Abby. Abby is constantly searching for adventure, and she usually finds it (or causes it) whether her friend Joshua approves or not. Along the way, she meets Jesus of Nazareth—a teacher unlike any she has ever known—and discovers lessons about friendship, kindness, courage, and faith.

This show is playful, heartfelt, and full of humor. But beneath the fun, it carries deep spiritual truths in a way that is welcoming to children and meaningful for adults. It’s a beautiful way for families to explore the life and love of Jesus together, especially for younger viewers who may be new to Bible stories. For HeartQuest families looking for content that builds faith without losing warmth or joy, this is a wonderful choice.

Why This Show Matters

  • Created by the same team behind The Chosen, the world-renowned Bible series that has reached millions of viewers across the globe.

  • Developed with biblical consultants and theologians to keep the heart of Jesus’ teachings accurate and age-appropriate.

  • Features high-quality animation and storytelling intended to make Bible narratives accessible, imaginative, and emotionally meaningful for children.

  • Funded in part by Angel Studios and viewer support, continuing the model that made The Chosen successful—people who believe in telling the story of Jesus to the world.

  • The creative team intentionally wrote this show to help parents and churches teach biblical values in a gentle, joyful, and memorable way.
